About The Position

Kleinfelder is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to join their New England Water Team. This role involves contributing to water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure planning, design, and construction projects. The engineer will work with a team of professionals experienced in water resources planning, distribution and collection systems design, construction management, and trenchless technologies. The position is in a team-oriented environment where engineering and design expertise will be used to develop technical solutions for project delivery. The role offers a hybrid schedule and is available in Boston, MA, Rocky Hill, CT, Worcester, MA, and Manchester, NH.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 6-10 years of experience in water and wastewater design projects, with a focus on infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience in preparing design documents, including cost estimates, schedules, and permitting support.
  • A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for working in the infrastructure engineering field.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage design tasks and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; motivated candidates with the necessary qualifications and ability to obtain PE within one (1) year will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of water resources planning, distribution/collection systems design, and trenchless technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and provide technical design support for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyze results, and communicate technical processes effectively to team members and clients.
  • Participate in or lead field reconnaissance activities and site visits to assess project needs and conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, contributing ideas and recommendations that leverage your engineering expertise across different areas of focus.
  • Prepare and review design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Support project management tasks, including scheduling, permitting, and construction coordination.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, proposals, and other project-related documentation.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, providing leadership and fostering a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Engage in professional development activities to continuously improve skills and knowledge in water/wastewater design and infrastructure engineering.
