About The Position

As a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of essential water infrastructure projects that serve communities and support sustainable growth. Working alongside project managers, technical specialists, and multidisciplinary teams, you'll contribute to a variety of projects including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, reservoirs, and distribution and collection systems. Your day will involve performing engineering analyses, preparing design calculations, developing plans and specifications, and coordinating project deliverables through various stages of design and construction. You'll collaborate directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to help solve complex infrastructure challenges while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. As an experienced engineer, you'll have opportunities to take ownership of project tasks, mentor junior team members, participate in field investigations and construction support activities, and build lasting client relationships. This role offers a balance of technical engineering, project coordination, and professional growth while contributing to infrastructure that has a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of water and wastewater engineering experience.
  • California Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD & Civil 3D software is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, storage facilities, and related systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents for municipal and private-sector clients.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, cost-effective solutions that meet project objectives, schedules, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project tasks and deliverables, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline expectations are achieved.
  • Participate in client meetings and serve as a day-to-day point of contact, helping build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Conduct engineering analyses, evaluate alternatives, and provide recommendations to support project planning, design, and implementation.
  • Review plans, drawings, and technical documents to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company quality procedures.
  • Support construction-phase services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, conducting site visits, and resolving field issues.
  • Collaborate with senior project managers and technical leaders to develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
  • Mentor junior engineers and EITs while continuing to expand your own technical expertise and project management responsibilities.
