The Operator in Training is responsible for learning to operate machinery, pumps and related equipment in water or wastewater treatment facilities. The shift is 7-3, 5 days a week, with a rotation for weekend (Sat - Sun) morning shifts (7-11) every third weekend. This role requires a willingness to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and to be on 24-hour emergency call. The position involves learning to operate various equipment, conducting routine testing and monitoring, performing and documenting maintenance, documenting plant performance, responding to emergencies, ensuring facility cleanliness, and providing customer service. The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Driver's License (CDL preferred), and the ability to obtain a Water/Wastewater Operator's License within one year. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use is also required. Strong communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail are essential. The role requires the ability to frequently lift 50-60 pounds, load/unload equipment, access confined spaces, and continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
