Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Two years of experience related to construction, maintenance, or repair
• Current TCEQ Class C Groundwater Operator License or Class C Wastewater Treatment Operator License
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
• Ability to obtain a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding fieldwork for extended periods
• Ability to work around mechanical, electrical, chemical, confined-space, and other utility-related hazards
• Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, motorized vehicles, and construction equipment

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, maintain, and repair the City's water supply, treatment and distribution systems, as well as its wastewater treatment and collection facilities.
• Inspect and repair wells, reservoirs, pumping stations, meters, chlorination systems, wastewater pump stations, gauges, pumps, filters, valves, and other treatment equipment.
• Monitor system performance, take meter readings, and maintain operational records.
• Assist with treatment processes and ensure that equipment and facilities function safely and effectively.
• Install and repair water mains, service connections, valves, hydrants, pipes, and fittings.
• Perform pavement cutting, ditch digging, line cleaning, backfilling, grounds maintenance, cleaning wet wells and treatment basins, and monitoring electrical systems.
• Assist with inventory control.
• Operate trucks, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, compactors, pumps, compressors, generators, and other construction and power equipment.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for utility emergencies.
