About The Position

An intern supports the assigned design department by assisting with a variety of tasks, including special project assignments and active participation in project design and documentation, to gain practical experience and support their educational development. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Compensation for this position is $22-27/hourly, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering or technical field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills.
  • Familiarity with basic design principles.
  • Eligible for TN visa classification (if applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience in a related field.
  • Experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Knowledge of water/wastewater systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior or lead engineers and project managers with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support
  • Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases
  • Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials
  • Assist with construction phase activities, including participating in site visits, supporting RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and helping update record drawings
  • Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed
  • Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices
  • Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members
  • Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
