About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a co-op/intern for its offices in Clifton Park, NY, focusing on planning, design, and construction administration for water, wastewater, stormwater, and water management projects. This role involves technical responsibilities such as facilities planning, project design, permitting, and construction administration, as well as developing design reports and construction documents. Projects may include facilities planning and design for treatment plants, pumping systems, pipelines, green infrastructure, and flood protection. Interns will contribute to creating iconic and groundbreaking structures and spaces that transform the world.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program during the internship period.
  • Must live a commutable distance from the Clifton Park office.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Client-facing skills.
  • Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and flexible individual with initiative and ability to take on new projects and challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Work on various aspects of water/wastewater/stormwater treatment and conveyance projects, including planning, process evaluations, detailed design, and construction administration.
  • Conduct fieldwork such as site visits, observing construction activities, collecting samples, and analyzing water quality data.
  • Evaluate technologies and plant operations, troubleshoot processes, and optimize operations.
  • Conduct condition assessments and overall performance evaluations of water/wastewater/stormwater facilities.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating client-facing skills including preparing and delivering presentations, participating in client meetings, and interacting with clients and subcontractors in the field.
  • Work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously.
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
