About The Position

Aurora Water operates and maintains the city’s drinking water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems; treats drinking water and reclaimed wastewater; and supports billing, public outreach, water conservation, water rights, capital projects, and regulatory compliance. The Water Utility Worker performs manual labor in water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater operations and maintenance. The position may involve emergency response and work during the day or night.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One year of manual labor experience.
Understanding of hazards and common safety practices.
Skill in the safe use of hand and power tools.
Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, and citizens.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
Ability to operate, or receive training on, various types of tools and equipment.
Effective use of computers and electronic devices.
Ability to recognize hazards.
State-issued driver’s license.
Ability to obtain a Class A or B CDL, as required by job duties, within the first six months.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure.
Operate and maintain vehicles.
Respond to water, stormwater, or wastewater emergencies.
Perform snow removal activities.
Perform standby duties.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
