ROLE OVERVIEW: Knife River has an excellent opportunity for a CDL driver to safely maintain & operate a water truck to transport and spray water on road surfaces at the designated location with the goal of keeping gravel/ clay road surfaces at optimum moisture content.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class B CDL license with Tanker Endorsement and ability to operate standard transmission vehicle.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen, DOT physical, physical performance evaluation.
  • Must provide and maintain proper license and endorsements, must have acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to comply with FMCSA regulations, understand traffic signs, communicate with law enforcement, and complete required records.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience within the road construction industry is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating a Water Truck is preferred.
  • Veterans are encouraged to apply. There are many jobs within the military that are transferrable to our Water Truck position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Accurately record pre & post-trip inspections on daily vehicle inspection form.
  • Safely operate water truck and water pumps.
  • Properly apply water volumes according to road surface.
  • Accurately record gallons of water taken from each source staying in compliance with daily limits.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical fitness.
  • Assist construction crews while waiting to apply water.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations (material quality, equipment operation/repair).
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA,DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Regular and timely attendance is essential to this position.
  • Performs other laboring duties as needed when not operating water truck.
