About The Position

Responsible for operating and maintaining a water truck to support road maintenance projects. Work involves transporting and applying water for dust control, soil compaction, and maintaining optimal moisture levels at worksites. Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the water truck while adhering to all safety regulations and project specifications. Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude in the use of initiative. Position exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of experience operating a water truck or similar heavy machinery
  • Must possess and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Tanker “N” endorsement
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, and foggy working conditions depending on weather
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and senior workers
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a service-oriented team
  • Ability to clearly communicate and understand information in English, orally and in writing

  • Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, cold, rain, fumes).
  • Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.
  • Some tasks may involve identifying and distinguishing colors.
  • Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates a water truck to perform dust control and road compaction on farm roads
  • Transports water to designated locations as required
  • Performs daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the water truck to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Conducts routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and ensuring all safety equipment is functional
  • Reports any mechanical issues or damage to the equipment promptly
  • Communicates effectively with other workers and supervisors to prevent accidents
  • Works collaboratively with other team members and supervisors to achieve project goals
  • Communicates effectively with site managers and other operators regarding water requirements and schedules
  • Ensures the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Follows organizational and public safety guidelines and protocols, performs job functions in a safe manner, and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures
  • May operate other company equipment, including bulldozers and yard trucks, as needed to support operations
