About The Position

The Water Truck Driver I is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders (LBB) by safely operating water trucks to control dust, support compaction activities, and maintain safe working conditions on bridge and roadway construction sites. This position ensures consistent water distribution to meet project specifications while adhering to all safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of safe driving practices, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and construction site safety.

  • Strong situational awareness and ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active construction zones.
  • Ability to follow water distribution plans and adjust flow rates as needed for compaction or dust control.
  • Ability to maintain a current and valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • 3+ years of experience operating commercial vehicles, ideally within roadway, bridge, or civil construction environments.
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Clean driving record in compliance with LBB & DOT Standards.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screening.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Complete all required safety training and certifications, such as OSHA 10.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer and tablet skills are preferred, with the ability to use everyday programs (such as email or simple forms) and an openness to learning new systems as processes change.
  • Experience with construction site operations, dust control procedures, and equipment maintenance is highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Operate water trucks to distribute water for dust control, soil compaction, and general site maintenance on roadway and bridge construction projects.
  • Fill, transport, and discharge water safely and efficiently, ensuring even coverage and compliance with project needs.
  • Inspect water truck daily, perform routine maintenance checks, and report mechanical issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate logs of water usage, mileage, and equipment condition as required.
  • Assist site crews with moisture conditioning, cleaning, and other water‑related tasks.
  • Follow all traffic control procedures and operate safely around workers, equipment, and active roadways.
  • Ensure proper use of spray bars, hoses, pumps, and valves.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure safe storage of equipment.
  • Support general labor or equipment tasks when water truck operations are not required.
  • Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
