A Water Leak Technician is responsible for locating underground water leaks and identifying corrective and preventative actions to maintain the City of Lebanon water distribution system. A Water Leak Technician is expected to exercise considerable initiative in moving efficiently through the day’s work assignments. An incumbent in this class performs leak surveys on various segments of the water distribution system and responds to leak calls to pinpoint and document leaks found. Considerable knowledge of the distribution system and independent judgment must be used as leak detection depends heavily on the ability to interpret survey results. A Water Leak Technician is also responsible for performing utility construction work, maintaining, and repairing the City’s water and Collection systems; Employees in this class may operate a variety of light construction equipment including jackhammer, tamper, easement machine, boring and tapping machines. In addition to leak survey work, incumbents are responsible for Duties include but are not limited to surveying and collecting data from all Water distribution system; creating work orders and installing sacrificial anodes; and generating reports regarding the overall effectiveness of the program. This class performs related duties as required.
