About The Position

ENWIN Utilities Ltd. is seeking a Water Systems Engineer to support and execute design projects for water pumping stations, reservoirs, treatment plants, and distribution systems. This role involves preparing drawings, specifications, contract documents, and estimates, as well as selecting and procuring equipment. The engineer will also support the creation and monitoring of sustainment and enhancement projects, maintain the asset management system, analyze data to improve system performance, and implement new software and engineering tools. Additionally, the position involves overseeing third-party contractors, including site visits, meetings, and ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.

Requirements

  • University degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering designation or working toward obtaining the designation.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of similar or related experience.
  • Knowledge of construction and design of water treatment and distribution systems as well as related materials and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulations, Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) design guidelines, Windsor Utility Commission (WUC) standards and specs, construction practices and the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and regulations.
  • Proficient in computer systems and software implementation.
  • Ability to create tools in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Good working knowledge of computer concepts (AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, SAP, GIS mapping).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong project management skills and organizational ability, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 'G' Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer systems, networks, SCADA systems, and electrical design for remote data collection.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support and execute design projects involving water pumping stations, water reservoirs, water treatment plant and water distribution.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Ensure designs comply with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Select and procure equipment.
  • Support the creation, monitoring, and measurement of annual sustainment and enhancement projects.
  • Update and maintain the asset management system, including data, analysis, and reporting for water production and distribution system assets.
  • Analyze data to improve system performance.
  • Investigate and implement software and engineering tools for the department.
  • Assist in overseeing, inspecting, and managing third party contractors.
  • Prepare payment certificates.
  • Conduct site visits and attend meetings.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to project specifications and timelines.
