Responsible for the efficient operation of the entire water supply system from source to tap. This role involves managing water treatment, water distribution facilities and processes while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards in accordance with federal, state, and local government’s acts, laws, ordinances, policies, and practices. Exercises independent judgment, discretion and initiative to maintain and operate water treatment and distribution systems. Performs a variety of supervisory, administrative, skilled, technical, and maintenance work in the planning, construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City’s water treatment facilities and distribution system. Working Supervisor expected to perform work in the field when required. Work involves the direction and coordination of divisional administrative functions such as the development of operating budgets and related reports, development and/or revision of procedures, supervision of staff involved in water treatment and distribution systems and facilities. Works under the general direction of the Public Works Director or assigned designee. This position is considered an emergency/disaster position. During emergency conditions, all City employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation, which requires that the employee be ready, willing, and able to report to work during emergencies and/or disasters of any kind, notwithstanding any other commitments the employee may have and be able perform emergency services duties, as assigned.
