About The Position

I-2-I Solutions provides comprehensive environmental monitoring and water safety testing across Veterans Affairs healthcare facilities in North Carolina and Virginia. We are seeking Environmental Water Quality Technicians to execute collect quarterly water sampling, conduct field parameter testing, and manage regulatory reporting to help maintain safe potable and utility water systems. Coverage Areas & Quarterly Workload : Richmond VA Medical Center | 1201 Broad Rock Blvd, Richmond, VA 23249 — 106 base samples/qtr Work Schedule & Availability Type: Part-time / Cyclical quarterly visits, with intermittent on-demand re-sampling support. Hours: Standard VA business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM). Planning: Field sampling dates are scheduled in advance, with a required 1-week notice issued to facility staff prior to arrival. Because operations occur within active clinical environments, personnel must complete VA background vetting and secure facility security badging prior to commencing site work.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform aseptic first-draw sampling of hot/cold potable water fixtures, ice machines, and cooling tower basins.
  • Proficiency in measuring and recording real-time water quality indicators (temperature, pH, free chlorine, total chlorine).
  • Experience with laboratory chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Ability to transfer test data into standardized Excel templates.
  • Willingness to complete VA background vetting and secure facility security badging.
  • Must be available for cyclical quarterly visits and intermittent on-demand re-sampling support.
  • Must provide 1-week notice to facility staff prior to arrival for scheduled sampling dates.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CDC and ISO 11731 methodologies for water sampling.
  • Experience with national Water Safety Management Tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform aseptic first-draw sampling of hot/cold potable water fixtures, ice machines, and cooling tower basins in accordance with CDC and ISO 11731 methodologies.
  • Measure and record real-time water quality indicators, including temperature, pH, free chlorine, and total chlorine levels.
  • Complete laboratory chain-of-custody documentation and transfer test data into standardized Excel templates configured for the national Water Safety Management Tool.
  • Conduct rapid re-sampling visits within 5 working days if positive detections occur.
  • Complete VA background vetting and secure facility security badging prior to commencing site work.
