Water Safety Specialist
About The Position
The Water Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting water management and safety programs through the operation, maintenance, flushing, inspection, and testing of point-of-use (POU) water systems and equipment. This role helps ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and site-specific water safety standards by monitoring water quality indicators such as legionella, metals, chlorine, and temperature. The position works closely with facility management teams to maintain safe building operations while delivering a high standard of customer service and operational support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or state equivalent.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to work safely using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to follow and comply with all safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Practical experience with water outlet systems, water management, plumbing, or related maintenance functions.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel or similar computer applications.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 80 lbs., climbing ladders, navigating rooftops, and working at heights.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience supporting water safety or water management programs in commercial, healthcare, laboratory, or industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with legionella prevention and water quality monitoring practices.
- Experience maintaining testing records, logs, and compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of building systems, facility operations, or environmental health and safety procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments and priorities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform flushing, operation, inspection, and testing activities for point-of-use water systems and equipment.
- Conduct water quality testing for legionella, chlorine, metals, temperature, and other assigned parameters.
- Maintain and update the master POU inventory and associated records.
- Record readings, document testing results, and assist in ensuring proper water outlet operation.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and hazardous material handling protocols.
- Review testing reports and communicate findings to facility management teams as needed.
- Respond to customer and site inquiries in a professional and timely manner while supporting additional water management duties as assigned.
