Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Water Resources Specialist with our Water Resources department. The successful candidate is responsible for assisting with the administration, protection, and management of Nevada Gold Mines’ (NGM) water rights, water use data, and regulatory obligations. Provide technical, administrative, and field-based support to ensure water rights remain in good standing, reporting obligations are met, and NGM’s water assets are accurately documented and protected. Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities, meet regulatory deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to review data and documentation for accuracy and reasonableness, identify anomalies or missing information, and seek clarification or escalate issues when needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to perform occasional field work at remote sites and walk on wet, slick, icy, uneven, or obstructed ground.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical education is preferred, or commensurate years of industry experience.
  • Experience with GIS and various database platforms is preferred.
  • Experience in a mining or industrial environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, organize, and maintain data and supporting documentation for Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) filings, including proofs, extensions of time, pumpage reports, reports of conveyance, and change applications.
  • Draft administrative forms for management review; track permit deadlines and obligations to help ensure water rights remain in good standing and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Collect, compile, validate, and maintain pumpage, totalizer, water-level, and related water-use data; prepare monthly summaries and support basin inventories and monitoring-plan reporting.
  • Maintain accurate databases and organized records for water rights, wells and well logs, pumpage, regulatory correspondence, permits, orders, agreements, invoices, and other supporting documentation.
  • Perform routine field work, including meter readings, water-level measurements, and site investigations at wells, springs, surface-water features, pipelines, and storage facilities. This includes collecting and documenting photographs, GPS coordinates, field observations, and other information needed to verify and support filings.
  • Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, malfunctioning equipment, access issues, or discrepancies between records and field conditions and elevate issues as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Environmental, Operations, Legal, consultants, ranching teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Support special projects related to water-right strategy and policy, database improvements, process improvements, consultant coordination, and development of standard operating procedures for data collection, filings, and tracking.
  • Independently review assigned data, filings, and reports for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness prior to management review; prioritize and sequence work to meet regulatory deadlines.
