About The Position

AECOM’s Water Business Line is seeking a Water Resources Project Manager to join our Water group in the Albuquerque, NM office. As a Water Resources Project Manager, you will lead technical design teams in creating conceptual layouts and designs for water resources, including dams, floodwalls, land development. Your responsibilities will include managing the preparation of comprehensive construction package deliverables and developing hydrologic and hydraulic models, and permit applications. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills, mentor junior staff, and develop high-performing teams in a collaborative environment. Job Description Responsible for assisting with preparation and successful completion of construction package deliverables (design drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analysis, technical memoranda, and design documentation reports). Generate conceptual layouts/designs or dams, levees, floodwalls, floodgates, channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, and haulage/access/circulation roads. Designs incorporate erosion control features, geosynthetics, and exposed or sub-surface piping. Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, and construction of water management systems Serve as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projects Work with existing and potential clients to provide long-term stormwater management solutions Develop project proposals to support and grow the Water practice Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasks Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work May be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s) Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the stormwater management projects Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil design Preparing and reviewing working drawings, plans, cost estimates, studies, reports, and other work products Analysis and design of stormwater drainage system, hydraulic structures, and roadway drainage systems Must be capable of performing independent tasks, reviewing technical work of others Present design solutions to AECOM project teams and clients Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills

Requirements

  • BS + 10 Years of related experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) in (NM) or ability to obtain within 6 months of work
  • Must be capable of performing independent tasks, reviewing technical work of others
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Civil Engineering or related field of study
  • 15+ years or more of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in stormwater evaluation and design (e.g., hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, stormwater management design), construction monitoring and operations
  • Progressive project experience including task leadership on design and design-build projects
  • Knowledge of standard hydrologic and hydraulic software programs (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS SRH-2D, etc.) and evaluations
  • Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings
  • Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings including grading, drainage and roadway plans, profiles, details, and sections
  • Conduct hydraulic analyses and design of channels, culverts, bridges, flow measurement, and flood mapping
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule
  • Scope/estimate complex civil & hydraulics projects
  • Track and manage task budgets and schedules
  • Write reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people
  • Strong team leader with excellent interpersonal skills who effectively works with and supports team members
  • Providing technical support to water infrastructure projects including: design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Preparation of technical reports, memos, and engineering design and construction related documents.
  • Twenty (20) years or more of relevant work experience with stormwater management, design and permitting using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing or reviewing the engineering design
  • Strong analytical and computation skills
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design principles
