About The Position

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the City of Buckeye's wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure. The role involves monitoring treatment processes, performing routine maintenance, conducting water quality tests, and responding to operational issues to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and maintain the integrity of the wastewater system.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid Arizona Driver's License.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations.
Possession of a valid Arizona Wastewater Operator Certificate (Grade II or higher).
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and laboratory procedures.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to treatment processes.
Proficiency in using SCADA systems and other relevant software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be on-call as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with advanced wastewater treatment technologies.
Additional wastewater operator certifications.
Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems.
Monitor treatment processes and adjust as necessary to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on plant machinery and equipment.
Collect wastewater samples and perform laboratory tests to monitor water quality and treatment effectiveness.
Respond to alarms and operational upsets, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
Maintain accurate operational logs, records, and reports.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Assist with the operation and maintenance of sewer collection systems as needed.
Participate in emergency response activities related to wastewater system operations.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
