About The Position
Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), a 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary consulting firm, is seeking a Water Resources Intern for its Herndon, Virginia office. The intern will support a variety of assignments, participate in project design and documentation, gain practical experience, and support their educational development. The hourly rate is $22.00–$27.00, based on education level. Immigration sponsorship or support, including H-1B and F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, is unavailable except for qualified candidates eligible for TN visa classification.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior leads, project managers, engineers, and other design team members with basic design tasks, research, simple studies, and layout support.
- Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases.
- Provide input on solutions to problems using basic theories and engineering fundamentals.
- Assist with construction-phase activities, including site visits, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, and record drawing updates.
- Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed.
- Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices.
- Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
- Receive guidance and direction from supervisors and team leaders.
- Collaborate with water resources engineers and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
