About The Position

The Water Resources Hydrogeologist/Engineer position reports to the Team Leader (TL) and is responsible for supporting water resources projects with clients in Texas, Colorado, California, and other states where EKI operates from initial project planning through feasibility analyses, design, implementation, and completion. Projects may include aquifer characterization, water budgets and water accounting frameworks, groundwater-flow and constituent transport modeling, water supply planning, production well design, water transfer support, indirect and direct potable reuse planning, litigation support, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a hydrogeologist or engineer for water resources projects
  • Technical knowledge in numerical groundwater modeling (e.g., MODFLOW), water resources planning, groundwater availability investigations, data management and visualization, ArcGIS, and technical writing
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate and coordinate with EKI staff, clients, subconsultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized, work independently, and collaborate with various project teams
  • Demonstrated time management skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuous learning
  • Must be able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight for client meetings and site visits up to 20% of the time
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Active professional licensure or certification in Texas is preferred, including Professional Geoscientist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT), Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
  • Proficiency with Python is preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with Texas groundwater regulations, water data sources, groundwater availability models, and regional water planning processes is preferred
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or implement hydrogeologic conceptual models, water balances, and numerical models to assess groundwater availability
  • Prepare reports and studies, including groundwater sustainability plans, water supply assessments, urban water management plans and/or water supply strategies, water transfers, and water conservation programs
  • Assist with field investigations including site visits, water level and quality data collection, well installation, and aquifer testing while adhering to EKI’s Health and Safety policies
  • Prepare clear, well-written documents and presentations that communicate complex technical issues
  • Support project managers and senior staff with the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, project schedules, and progress reports
  • Other duties as required
