About The Position

Responsible for planning, design and implementation of drainage improvement, stormwater management and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling projects, with a focus on projects for the transportation sector. Work closely with project managers and under the supervision of a licensed engineer to perform the following duties: develop comprehensive drainage designs for DOT and municipal projects using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD), ensuring compliance with applicable standards, details and specifications, including drainage manual standards, QA/QC protocols and permitting requirements; develop drainage and stormwater plans and details; prepare drainage plan sets to be submitted as standalone construction-level plans or incorporated with civil packages for transportation projects; prepare Storm Water Management Reports and other technical reports; prepare culvert/bridge hydrologic and hydraulic studies; assist in development of project Scopes of Work and cost estimates; coordinate drainage designs with other civil/transportation disciplines including Roadway, Structures, Utilities, & MOT. Position duties require extensive utilization of OpenRoads Designer (StormCAD), Microstation, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, PCSWMM, FHWA HY-8 and Hydraulic Toolbox. Position based in Raleigh, North Carolina and requires approximately 15% travel time to client project sites within the East South Central and South Atlantic regions. May work from home up to 2 days per week, subject to change at any time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, including coursework in hydrology and water resources.
  • Minimum two years of experience in the position offered.
  • Applicants must be authorized to accept permanent employment in the U.S. with any employer.
