About The Position

This is a multi-disciplinary Water Resource Engineer position that requires strong knowledge of civil/environmental engineering practices and principals along with understanding and appreciation of biological and ecological science. Candidates must have a BS or MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Applicants for this position must have strong writing and communication skills and should be familiar with relevant civil engineering software. Ten to twenty years of experience with experience and interest in hydraulics and river mechanics are required. Flexible Location (Dependent on candidate experience): Any New England office location. Northampton, MA is preferred. This position provides substantial opportunities for collaboration with scientific disciplines as part of Stantec’s holistic Environment Services program. Desktop and field studies supporting a broad spectrum of water resource engineering projects focused on assessment and design for aquatic habitat restoration including: Dam removal, Culvert replacement, Bridge hydraulics and scour, Flood risk assessment, Coastal resilience, Stream restoration and enhancement. Writing and preparation of documentation and engineering design materials, Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in civil or environmental engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Professional Engineer license required along with ability to obtain additional licenses in Massachusetts and other New England States within three months of hiring date
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Drafting skills, including experience with AutoCAD software / Civil 3D
  • Good understanding of mathematics and engineering mechanics
  • Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge
  • Ability to perform fieldwork
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success.
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS
  • Experience with surface water hydrology and hydraulics
  • Experience working and recreating in and along waterways
  • Experience and interest in hydraulics and river mechanics
