About The Position

Reputable Chicago-based firm is hiring a Water Resources Engineer for their team in Gary, Indiana! The role involves performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, designing stormwater systems, and serving as a technical lead on projects. The engineer will also work on multi-discipline projects, review work, build client relationships, and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
6+ years of water resources experience
Experience with municipal and/or highway drainage design projects
PE License for Illinois and/or Indiana
Proficient in Microstation
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (including HEC-RAS and SWMM)
Successful applicant must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree preferred
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred
Experience in AutoCad preferred

Responsibilities

Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways (bridge and culvert crossings)
Analyze flood problem areas to identify problems, look for solutions, and create a design with recommended alternatives
Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal/roadway projects (conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices)
Design of soil erosion/sediment control practices
Serve as the technical lead on projects
Perform a variety of design tasks (calculations/models, report/plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks)
Work on multi-discipline projects with other disciplines
Review engineering work completed by others
Build/maintain client and vendor relationships
Mentor/train junior staff
