About The Position

Barr is seeking a senior water resources engineer to join our growing Salt Lake City team. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to provide project and/or task management, technical leadership, and engineering support for a diverse range of water resources projects. Project work may involve hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, dam safety and reservoir systems, stormwater planning and flood control, and preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications. The ideal candidate for this position has strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, proven task or project management skills, and a willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy environment that encourages self-initiative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources.
  • 15 years of related water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and commonly used software.
  • Experience with proposal development, client management, and business development.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality.
  • 16+ years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and/or water quality.
  • Experience with Western water rights.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project and/or task management, technical leadership, and engineering support for a diverse range of water resources projects.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, dam safety and reservoir systems, stormwater planning and flood control.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Lead project teams in planning, coordinating, and executing projects.
  • Ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to project team members and clients.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships; develop proposals and perform business development activities.
