The Prince George’s County Department of The Environment is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Water Resources Engineer (Engineer I/II), grade G24 /G27 position, in the Environmental Program Section of the Stormwater Management Division. The Engineer I/II performs intermediate-level professional and technical work supporting complex engineering, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and environmental data management functions for County regulatory programs. Working under close to general supervision with increasing independence, the position integrates engineering principles with geospatial technologies and geodatabase management to support National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and MS4 permit compliance, including stormwater management, watershed analysis, and water quality monitoring in accordance with Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) requirements. Responsibilities include acquiring, analyzing, and validating environmental and infrastructure data; maintaining and ensuring compliance of GIS geodatabases; and producing technically sound analyses and reporting deliverables within established timelines. The role also involves coordinating with engineers, GIS staff, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support data collection, reporting, and compliance efforts, as well as conducting field investigations to verify conditions and data accuracy.
