About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Engineer III in Raleigh, NC. This role involves overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic model development, reviewing modeling performed by staff, and exercising judgment in developing workflow details and adaptations of engineering alternatives. The position also requires proposing modifications to selected engineering approaches when needed, developing novel methodologies for unique flooding problems, and acting as an Independent Technical Reviewer for 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic studies to create FEMA flood maps. Responsibilities include reviewing 1D studies, coordinating with production staff and project managers for error correction and model delivery, developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for FEMA flood maps and other regulatory products, contributing to pre-disaster mitigation planning, post-disaster assessments, and recovery planning projects, developing mapping products and visualization aids, and conducting field surveys.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study and 2 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer, Civil Engineer, Wastewater Engineer, or in a related occupation.
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study and no experience.
  • Experience in HEC-RAS, including 1D & 2D
  • Experience in ArcMap
  • Experience in ArcPro
  • Experience in HEC-HMS
  • Experience in EPA-SWMM
  • Experience in PeakFQ
  • Experience in Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of riverine systems
  • Experience in Flood hazard analysis and mapping
  • Experience in Floodplain management

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic model development, review modeling performed by staff

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models to aid the development of FEMA flood maps and other regulatory and non-regulatory products for FEMA and various state emergency management agencies
  • Contribute to pre-disaster mitigation planning, post-disaster assessments, and recovery planning projects
