This role involves overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic model development, reviewing modeling performed by staff, and exercising judgment in developing workflow details and adaptations of engineering alternatives. The position also requires proposing modifications to selected engineering approaches when needed, developing novel methodologies for unique flooding problems, and acting as an Independent Technical Reviewer for 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic studies to create FEMA flood maps. Responsibilities include reviewing 1D studies, coordinating with production staff and project managers for error correction and model delivery, developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for FEMA flood maps and other regulatory products, contributing to pre-disaster mitigation planning, post-disaster assessments, and recovery planning projects, developing mapping products and visualization aids, and conducting field surveys.
