About The Position

This is a multi-disciplinary, entry-level water resources engineering position that requires strong knowledge of civil engineering practices and principals along with understanding and appreciation of biological and ecological science. Candidates must have a BS or MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Applicants for this position must have strong writing and communication skills and should be familiar with relevant civil engineering software. Responsibilities of this position include desktop and field studies in support of a broad spectrum of water resource engineering projects. Typical water resource engineering projects would include those with a focus on assessment and design for aquatic habitat restoration such as dam removal, culvert replacement, and stream restoration and enhancement. Typical position support roles would include writing and documentation, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, and preparation of engineering design materials. This position provides substantial opportunities for collaboration with scientific disciplines as part of Stantec’s holistic Environment Services program.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Drafting skills, including experience with AutoCAD software.
  • Good understanding of mathematics and engineering mechanics.
  • Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork.
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS.
  • Experience with surface water hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Experience working and recreating in and along waterways.
