About The Position

Help shape resilient communities and sustainable infrastructure across the Ottawa region. As a Water Resources Designer, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of land development and municipal engineering projects, applying hydrologic and hydraulic expertise to deliver innovative water management solutions. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll support projects from concept through construction while building technical expertise and advancing your professional growth.

Requirements

  • 0 to 5 years of experience in water resources engineering, including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, drainage design, stormwater management, and engineering design support.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario, or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) actively pursuing professional registration.
  • Proficiency with industry software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, HydroCAD, HY-8, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong understanding of hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, and stormwater management design principles.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, design calculations, and engineering documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret engineering, hydrological, climate, and geospatial data using tools such as ArcGIS Pro and Civil 3D.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills combined with a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Civil 3D grading tools to support hydraulic structure and drainage design.
  • Experience with frequency storm analyses and probable maximum precipitation assessments.
  • Experience completing hydraulic analyses and design for channels, culverts, bridges, flood mapping, and flow measurement systems.
  • Familiarity with stormwater regulations, permitting requirements, and design standards at municipal, provincial, or federal levels.
  • Working knowledge of PCSWMM, including model setup, scenario analysis, and results interpretation.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering with a specialization in Hydrology, Hydraulics or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, drainage design, and stormwater management assessments that support sustainable community development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative water resources solutions for municipal and land development projects.
  • Prepare technical calculations, reports, stormwater management plans, drainage studies, and engineering memoranda that drive informed project decisions.
  • Partner with CAD designers to develop grading, drainage, and civil engineering designs from concept through detailed construction.
  • Support field investigations, data collection, engineering analysis, and construction activities to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders while contributing to high-quality technical outcomes and strong client relationships.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound engineering judgement to solve complex water resources challenges.
  • Contribute to project success by supporting delivery within established scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
