The Water Reclamation Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance activities at the City’s Water Reclamation Facility (WRF). The position leads an exceptional team that performs a variety of tasks that include, but are not limited to: daily rounds, sample collection, laboratory analysis, clarifier blanket monitoring, filter changing, chemical delivery, maintenance of infrastructure and equipment utilized in the treatment process, troubleshooting, testing and repair of treatment equipment and assisting with equipment replacement. Also known as the Charles M. Wolf Water Resource Center, the WRF is the only treatment facility in the City. The facility is currently rated at 9 million gallons per day (MGD) and operates continuously to treat a primarily domestic wastewater stream. The process includes screening, grit removal, primary treatment, biological secondary treatment (Activated Sludge 4 – Stage Bardenpho BNR), secondary clarification followed by chlorination and then de-chlorination. The solids handling is accomplished by primary and WAS thickening, anaerobic digestion and centrifuge dewatering. The WRF generates effluent that meets Aquifer Water Quality Standards (AWQS) to be recharged, except when used for the on-site non-potable system. Under direct supervision of the Utilities Operations Manager, this position requires exceptional leadership skills to effectively direct, manage, supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities; monitor and administer the WRF annual operations budget; coordinate with engineering on Capital Improvement Projects; prepare and submit regulatory reporting, maintain facility compliance, and more. This position requires advanced knowledge and skills pertaining to the process control of an activated sludge treatment facility.
