About The Position

The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is seeking qualified individuals for the role of Water Quality Technician Lead. This position involves performing advanced technical duties to protect the water distribution system. Responsibilities include implementing the city’s cross-connection control program, collecting drinking water samples for regulatory compliance and operational process control, responding to customer service calls regarding water quality issues, and verifying proper disinfection and flushing of new water lines. The role also provides lead direction to Water Quality Senior Technicians, ensuring work quality, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours towards a degree in chemistry, biology, environmental sciences or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience with physical or chemical testing, water treatment, water distribution system, sewer system maintenance or directly related field.
  • ADEQ Grade 3 Water Treatment or Water Distribution Certification upon hire or promotion.
  • Backflow Assembly Tester Certification upon hire or promotion.
  • Cross Connection Specialist Certification upon hire or promotion.
  • A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced technical duties related to the protection of the water distribution system.
