About The Position

Daphne Utilities is seeking a WATER QUALITY OPERATOR to join its team to operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment plant systems and related equipment to provide quality drinking water for public use. The role requires operating various machinery, equipment, and tools associated with plant operations, including a utility truck, SCADA monitoring system, and laboratory equipment. Proficiency in computer use for data management and communication is essential. The operator must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English, travel regularly within Baldwin County and occasionally out of town, and perform basic mathematical calculations. Physical requirements include repetitive hand, finger, and wrist use for keyboarding, regular standing and walking both indoors and outdoors (sometimes in inclement weather and on uneven terrain), and the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects and materials exceeding 50 lbs. The position also requires availability for overtime, holidays, and weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational/technical training in water treatment plant operations.
  • Two (2) years previous experience and/or training involving water treatment plant operations, SCADA system operations, and equipment maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Grade II Water Treatment Plant Operator License within 12 months.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Must pass a Drug Screen and criminal background check.
  • Proficiently read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment plant systems and related equipment.
  • Operate various machinery, equipment, and tools associated with plant operations.
  • Operate a computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data, verifying accuracy and making corrections.
  • Utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database, SCADA system, Internet, e-mail, or other computer applications.
  • Travel throughout the Baldwin County area regularly and out of town occasionally.
  • Use hands, fingers, and wrist repetitively, using a keyboard.
  • Stand and walk around regularly, both inside and outside, sometimes in inclement weather and on uneven terrain.
  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Work some overtime, holidays, and weekends.
