About The Position

As a Water Plant Operator I, you’ll help safeguard one of our community’s most vital resources—clean, safe drinking water. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate and monitor treatment systems, collect and test water samples, and ensure plant equipment runs smoothly and efficiently. Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
1-3 years’ experience in utility plant operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possession of Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade I Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification at hire.
Valid Driver's license of the appropriate class.
The selected candidate who does not possess the required certification will be considered a trainee at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor water treatment plant equipment including pumps, motors, valves, filters, chemical feed systems, and control panels
Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory tests (chlorine residual, pH, turbidity, etc.)
Record operational data and maintain logs and reports
Adjust chemical dosages and treatment processes under supervision
Inspect plant facilities and equipment to ensure proper operation
Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping duties
Respond to alarms and emergency situations
Comply with safety procedures and regulatory requirements
Respond to emergency system issues and participate in on-call rotation
