About The Position
Highland City is looking for a Water Distribution Operator (Level I or II) to join our Public Works team. Under the supervision of the Culinary Water Superintendent, the operator will be responsible for ensuring the city's water flows safely, cleanly, and efficiently. This role is suitable for individuals at various career stages, from entry-level to experienced professionals. The position involves independent work, teamwork, operating heavy machinery, and making a direct impact on the community.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/G.E.D.
- Valid Utah Driver's License
- Must be 18 or older
- Pass a background check, drug screen, and a Human Performance Evaluation
- Provide a clean Utah driving record
Nice To Haves
- Prior water system experience
- Background in construction, plumbing, or general labor
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, flush, and repair the city's water lines, storage systems, and fire hydrants.
- Utilize smart metering infrastructure and digital GIS mapping for leak detection and data management.
- Safely operate equipment such as loaders, backhoes, compactors, and specialized plumbing tools.
- Manage work zone safety, including Blue Stake markings and signalization/flagging, to ensure public safety.
- Respond to customer service calls, troubleshoot meter issues, and communicate professionally with residents.
