About The Position

This is a non-supervisory, temporary position ranging from 2-3 months. The primary responsibilities are efficiently and effectively conducting various general tasks as needed at JCSUD’s facilities. Duties will include laying, maintaining, and repairing of water lines, taps, valves, and setting and maintaining fire hydrants. No minimum number of hours are guaranteed, and no leave, retirement, or health benefits will be offered.

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. May be exposed to extreme heat during the summer.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to reliably commute to the work site.
  • Work cooperatively with JCSUD executive management, as well as employees, consultants, contractors, and members of the public.
  • Ability to read and write the English language.
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations by adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Works effectively with other employees to repair or replace water mains or service lines
  • Set up barricades, cones, and other appropriate traffic control devices on public roadways when required, to protect employees and the public.
  • Performs water service taps
  • Performs preventive maintenance and may maintain office and field sites
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while performing tasks.
