Water Operator I
About The Position
The Water Operator I helps maintain the City of Fort Wayne’s water distribution system. The role involves investigating water quality, pressure, and leak concerns; maintaining and inspecting hydrants, valves, and service lines; performing flushing operations; coordinating water main shutdowns; operating specialized equipment; and updating system records and maps. Work takes place in field environments, including confined spaces and all-weather conditions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The position supports essential city infrastructure and offers benefits, stability, and a pension.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of related utility, water distribution, underground utility, or field operations experience.
- Ability to read maps and blueprints.
- Valid Indiana Driver's License.
