About The Position

Conuma Resources is a leading Canadian producer of metallurgical coal, operating five surface mines in the Peace River Coalfields of Northeast British Columbia, including Willow Creek and Quintette. The Water Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation and maintenance of site water treatment systems, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. This role involves identifying performance improvement opportunities, tracking system data, providing leadership and support to the Water Treatment team, ensuring team training and safety, and managing resources, budgets, and reporting across departments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in water treatment operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to support, coach, and develop team members.
  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in day-to-day operations.
  • Experience working with water treatment systems and related software/tools.
  • Good understanding of environmental regulations and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in the mining or natural resource industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of site water treatment systems, ensuring they run safely and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce downtime, and keep systems operating efficiently.
  • Track and review system performance data to support ongoing improvements.
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support to the Water Treatment team.
  • Ensure the team is trained, following safety standards, and prepared to respond to any operational issues.
  • Work closely with other departments and manage resources, budgets, and reporting to keep operations running smoothly.
