Requirements

• Prior experience working outdoors in utility or field service environments is highly preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Familiarity with utility locating techniques, low voltage electrical systems, and power tools usage.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting, climbing, manual handling, and walking extensive distances daily.
• Basic math skills for recording and verifying meter readings accurately.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience driving in various conditions is advantageous.
• Knowledge of safety protocols including DOT regulations and proper use of hand tools and safety gear.
• Experience working with handheld meter readers or similar technical devices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accurately read water meters using handheld meter reading devices or manual methods across assigned routes.
• Inspect meters for signs of damage, leaks, or tampering, and report issues promptly.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on water meters and related equipment utilizing hand tools and power tools.
• Locate underground utility lines using utility locating equipment to ensure safe access during meter readings.
• Follow safety protocols including DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and NEC (National Electrical Code) standards during all field activities.
• Document readings and maintenance activities precisely, updating digital or manual logs as required.
• Engage with customers professionally to explain meter readings or address inquiries while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
