About The Position

Floyd County is seeking a Water Maintenance Worker II to perform skilled utility work involving construction, repair, and maintenance of the County water distribution system. The position operates specialized equipment and performs advanced maintenance activities. Other duties may be required when they are similar, related, or a logical extension of the role.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in water utility construction, equipment operation, maintenance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled maintenance and repair of water distribution systems, including repairing pipeline breaks and leaks and installing or repairing water lines, meters, meter boxes, hydrants, and related components.
Conduct water system installations and repairs, including water taps, meter replacements, concrete work, trenching, excavation, and restoration of work areas.
Operate vehicles, heavy equipment, machinery, and specialized tools used in water utility construction and maintenance.
Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on equipment and tools; check fluid levels, lubricate equipment, clean work areas, and report mechanical issues.
Assist with locating system issues, performing service repairs, and responding to water utility maintenance needs and customer service requests.
Complete work orders, reports, and related documentation; communicate work activities and service information by telephone, radio, and in person.
Follow established safety procedures, use protective equipment, and maintain proper traffic control and work zone safety.
Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced employees and support the efficient completion of assigned utility projects.
