Clarity Partners is seeking a Water Facilities Engineering Project Manager local to Chicago, IL. This role will support the planning, design, and delivery of major water infrastructure initiatives as part of Chicago’s multi-year capital improvement program. The position requires strong technical engineering leadership and the ability to manage large, multidisciplinary project teams supporting municipal water systems. This position will report in a hybrid setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive engineering and project management experience within water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience managing municipal infrastructure or capital improvement programs.
  • Strong financial management and project delivery experience.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of capital improvement projects for water purification plants, intake structures, pumping stations, reservoirs, and related infrastructure.
  • Provide engineering oversight for planning, design, and construction phases of water and wastewater facility projects.
  • Manage project teams, consultants, and external service providers to ensure contractual commitments are met.
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and production to maintain quality and performance standards.
  • Lead conceptual project development and support RFQ preparation and consultant selection processes.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and scope development for engineering and construction services.
  • Deliver presentations and progress updates to stakeholders including the Chicago Department of Water Management.
  • Supervise technical professionals and project managers while supporting staffing and workload management.
