About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Wellness, the Water Exercise Instructor will ensure that the patrons have a safe and enjoyable experience while using the equipment and facilities on the Pool Decks. They are responsible for monitoring the area during operating hours, enforcing safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the Pool areas.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with YMCA staff, employees, members, and program participants.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required
  • Must have current Water Exercise Certification [ACE, AFAA, AFPA, AEA, Burdenko, and AQUA ZUMBA (for Shallow Water.)]

  • Gain experience in the fitness industry and develop safe Water Exercise Instruction and customer service skills
  • Interact with a diverse group of people and build relationships with Water Exercise patrons.
  • Proactively builds relationships with the YMCA population.
  • Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Develop problem-solving skills by resolving conflicts and responding to patrons' concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of like-minded individuals dedicated to providing excellent customer service.
  • Monitors, organizes, and puts away needed class equipment.
  • Reports damaged equipment to supervisor.
  • Maintains records as required and supports studio closet/equipment area organization and inventory.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
