This is an entry-level class in the Water Distribution Division. This class works under supervision on a training basis in the performance of a wide variety of routine unskilled to semi-skilled water maintenance tasks that do not require previous water experience. General work is observed and reviewed during performance and upon completion, and changes in procedures or exceptions to rules, are explained in detail as they arise. The class is responsible for maintaining logs and records, and general system maintenance. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the III level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non-directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. Weekend, holiday and after hours work may be required, as well as after-hours response and emergencies.
