About The Position

Under general supervision, operates light to medium vehicles and equipment and performs maintenance worker duties when not operating vehicles or equipment. This role involves constructing and maintaining the water distribution system, performing preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles, and ensuring proper operation of equipment following traffic safety regulations. The Equipment Operator II serves as a back-up operator, while the Equipment Operator III assists in water tap installations and correcting problems in water lines.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • EOII: three (3) years of construction work experience, including operation and maintenance of construction equipment and vehicles.
  • EOIII: five (5) years of full-time or nearly full-time work experience operating and maintaining excavation equipment (i.e. backhoe, track hoe or equivalent), including maintenance or the operation of vehicles and equipment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at any time.
  • Applicants MUST upload a copy of: high school diploma/GED, VALID commercial driver’s license and applicable certifications with application.

Nice To Haves

  • Attendance at vocational school in related field preferred.
  • Class I-IV WD Certification is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates light to medium vehicles and equipment to construct and maintain water distribution system.
  • Performs preventive maintenance duties on equipment and vehicles.
  • Cleans vehicles and equipment after use.
  • Detects malfunctions in equipment and makes minor repairs or recommendations for major repairs.
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment following traffic safety regulations.
  • Serves as back-up operator in absence of Equipment Operator III (for EOII).
  • Performs maintenance duties when not operating vehicles and equipment.
  • Assists in the installation of water taps and correcting problems in water lines (for EOIII).
