About The Position

Resource Central is an award-winning nonprofit in Boulder, Colorado, dedicated to making conservation simple. Since 1976, their programs have helped over 1,000,000 people save water, conserve energy, and reduce waste. The Slow the Flow program partners with over 40 Colorado municipalities and water providers to help residents save water through efficient irrigation practices, having saved over 200 million gallons of water to date. This seasonal, full-time, field-based position involves daily driving to sprinkler evaluation appointments along the Colorado Front Range, primarily in areas like Fort Collins, Longmont, Boulder, Westminster, Denver, or Parker. Appointments are typically assigned within 30 miles of the technician's residence. The role starts June 1, 2026, and is expected to last into August or September 2026. Requirements

  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age upon start date.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Automobile insurance.
  • Daily access to a reliable automobile.
  • A smartphone.
  • Must pass and maintain a clean background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
  • Daily travel to worksites in and around either Fort Collins, Longmont, Boulder, Westminster, Denver, or Parker required; appointments are typically assigned within 30 miles of a technician’s residence.
  • Ability to safely lift 30 pounds.
  • Ability to walk continuously throughout the workday.
  • Ability to kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly.
  • Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including high temperatures and rain.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, sprinklers, or sustainability.
  • Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sprinkler system checkups at homes, businesses, and other properties to help people conserve water.
  • Travel from home to worksite locations daily, with mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Test sprinkler systems and program sprinkler control clocks to improve system performance and watering efficiency.
  • Educate homeowners and business owners on best practices in outdoor water use.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings (in person, online, and phone).
  • Assist with other Slow the Flow tasks or Resource Central programs as assigned.
  • Foster inclusion to help build a strong sense of belonging by ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included at Resource Central.
