The Water & Sewer Technician installs, repairs, and maintains water and sewer mains and lines. The Water & Sewer Technician is required to be on-call frequently. The Technician must be able to respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience in a related field; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License
- The ability to obtain a Water Distribution System Operator certification within 12 months of employment
- Background Investigation
- Pre-Employment Urinalysis
- Pre-Employment Physical
Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, and repairs water and sewer mains and lines
- Operates a backhoe, trencher, front-end loader, and dump truck to install water and sewer services
- Locates and repairs leaks in water and sewer lines
- Makes water and sewer taps
- Maintains wells; adds chemicals and performs preventive maintenance
- Sets water meters
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on assigned equipment
- Makes and repairs utility cuts necessitated by water and sewer repairs
- Operates a boring machine to install water and sewer pipes
- Flushes and cleans water and sewer lines
- Answers emergency service calls as required
- Sets barricades, cones, and warning signs at work sites
