About The Position

This position performs supervisory and technical work coordinating field operations related to water and sewer infrastructure support functions, including meter reading, meter replacement, hydrant inspections, and valve exercising. The work involves directing daily activities of assigned staff, ensuring operational quality and compliance, and supporting customer service functions. Work is performed under general supervision of the Water and Sewer Operations Superintendent.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in water and sewer operations, including at least two years of supervisory experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Appropriate wastewater and water operator certifications issued by the State of Maryland.
Operation of County-owned vehicle.

Responsibilities

Supervises assigned field staff and coordinates daily work assignments related to meter reading routes, infrastructure inspections, and maintenance activities.
Oversees quality control of meter reading operations, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and resolution of exceptions.
Coordinates meter troubleshooting and replacement activities, including scheduling and inventory tracking.
Responds to customer service requests and ensures proper documentation and follow-up.
Ensures hydrant and valve inspections are completed and that deficiencies are properly reported.
Maintains administrative records, including operational reports and timesheets.
Assists with program updates, training initiatives, and coordination with billing and customer service units.
Performs related work as required.
