About The Position

This position is responsible for controlling the Wastewater treatment plant's systems and equipment to purify and clarify water for permitted industrial discharge in Lena, WII. The role involves maintaining operational coverage, operating and controlling various systems, collecting and analyzing wastewater samples, and ensuring compliance with treatment standards. The technician will also be responsible for preventative maintenance, record-keeping, and coordinating with various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to make process changes based on lab data and general process knowledge
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Independent decision-making and judgment for commonly encountered problems
  • Willingness to learn and ability to take instructions on Wastewater treatment processes
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative ideas to improve processes
  • Ability and desire to build and maintain a "team mentality"
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to climb a vertical ladder up to 30 feet
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to regularly bend
  • Must be able to climb onto and safely exit a forklift
  • Must be able to use extension ladders daily
  • Must be able to climb into and maneuver the body in tight spaces
  • Ability to work both day and night shifts as needed, with primary shift designation being 12-hour night shifts

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete operational coverage of the Solar Technologies Wastewater facility throughout all scheduled shifts (primarily 12-hour night shifts)
  • Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow
  • Collect and test wastewater samples to determine concentration levels and impurities
  • Analyze lab data to identify potential treatment issues and implement process changes to prevent non-compliance
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping of client data
  • Coordinate with other operators, Solar Technologies, and Veolia management to maintain wastewater treatment equipment and determine optimal treatment methods
  • Complete all preventative maintenance at designated frequencies
  • Assist with minor maintenance projects including chemical pump repair, valve replacement, and piping installation
  • Compile data for daily, weekly, or monthly operating reports to Veolia and Solar Technologies management
  • May compile data for EPA or state regulatory bodies
  • Coordinate with Veolia purchasing department to order wastewater treatment supplies
  • Coordinate with Solar Technologies to schedule third-party maintenance support
  • Other Duties as assigned
