Requirements

  • Associate's degree in technical field
  • Class D License in water/wastewater treatment is required (physical/chemical in SC).
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment, preferably in automotive or manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, SDS, and environmental reports.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a forklift or similar equipment may be required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electrocoating process waste characteristics and treatment methods is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Follow, comply and enforce all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs (Magna and OSHA Standards).
  • Operate and maintain all wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, filters, tanks, chemical feed systems, and control panels.
  • Monitor pH levels, chemical usage, flow rates, and discharge quality from the e-coat line and general plant processes.
  • Perform daily sampling and testing of wastewater to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Record and analyze data related to chemical usage, water quality, and discharge volumes; maintain detailed logs.
  • Adjust chemical dosages and treatment methods based on test results and process requirements.
  • Coordinate waste hauling and disposal of sludge and other byproducts.
  • Conduct routine inspections of wastewater systems and associated infrastructure; identify and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental reports and documentation for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Support environmental audits and inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on process improvement and equipment upgrades.
  • Perform other duties as required.
