About The Position

The Environmental Operations Operator with Gatorade is responsible for the smooth and safe operation of all systems in the wastewater plant, including but not limited to pumps, motors, chemical feed systems, and manual valves. This role involves collecting and lab testing samples from wastewater and plant areas, accurate daily recordkeeping, and maintaining clean work areas. The operator is also responsible for reporting equipment failures and issues to maintenance. The position requires working a 12-hour shift on a 3-2-2-3 schedule.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments including climbing ladders and stairs
  • Basic experience working with pumps, motors, chemical feed systems and manual valves
  • Experience with Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures
  • Willingness to receive DOT Hazardous Materials Training within 2 months of hiring
  • 18 years or older
  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays)
  • Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Wastewater Operator License (C level or higher) according to State requirements
  • Complete yearly DOT Hazardous Materials Training within 2 months of hiring (for chemical handling)
  • Safe operation of all systems in the wastewater plant
  • Perform sampling and analyses functions for process control of wastewater plant
  • Input data and maintain documentation/recordkeeping (computer and official log book) in support of process control and permit activities including Title V and AOR (air related to flare), NPDES and DMR (River Discharge permit), and UIC (Underground injection wells permit)
  • Interface with maintenance operations for equipment startup/shutdown and repair as needed
  • Resolve most questions/issues and refer complex issues to lead and/or supervisor
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and chemical supplies, and provide interface to DEP with respect to laboratory compliance
  • Perform special studies as required to maintain proper sample collection and lab testing reports
  • Support for Capital and Expense projects with Vendors / Consultants / Internal Management to address issues leading to improvements
  • Support department Safety team with period inspections, visitor and vendor sign in log and 5S duties
  • Become proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Wonderware operation
  • Investigation of wastewater issues (process upsets, etc.) leading to implementation of corrective measures
  • Communication with other departments (radio, phone) regarding wastewater issues
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments including climbing stairs and ladders and lifting up to 50lbs
  • Other duties as assigned by environmental ops management
