About The Position

This position is responsible for controlling the Wastewater treatment plant's systems and equipment to purify and clarify water for permitted industrial discharge in Lena, WII. The role involves maintaining complete operational coverage of the Saputo Cheese Wastewater facility throughout all scheduled shifts, primarily 12-hour night shifts. The technician will operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow, collect and test wastewater samples, and analyze lab data to identify potential treatment issues and implement process changes. This role requires coordination with other operators, Saputo Cheese, and Veolia management for equipment maintenance and optimal treatment methods. Additionally, the technician will complete preventative maintenance, assist with minor maintenance projects, compile data for operating reports, and coordinate with departments for ordering supplies and scheduling third-party maintenance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to make process changes based on lab data and general process knowledge
Strong mechanical aptitude
Independent decision-making and judgment for commonly encountered problems
Willingness to learn and ability to take instructions on Wastewater treatment processes
Ability to develop creative and innovative ideas to improve processes
Ability and desire to build and maintain a "team mentality"
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds
Ability to climb a vertical ladder up to 30 feet
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
Ability to regularly bend
Ability to climb onto and safely exit a forklift
Ability to use extension ladders daily
Ability to climb into and maneuver the body in tight spaces

Responsibilities

Maintain complete operational coverage of the Saputo Cheese Wastewater facility throughout all scheduled shifts (primarily 12-hour night shifts)
Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate water flow
Collect and test wastewater samples to determine concentration levels and impurities
Analyze lab data to identify potential treatment issues and implement process changes to prevent non-compliance
Maintain accurate record-keeping of client data
Coordinate with other operators, Saputo Cheese, and Veolia management to maintain wastewater treatment equipment and determine optimal treatment methods
Complete all preventative maintenance at designated frequencies
Assist with minor maintenance projects including chemical pump repair, valve replacement, and piping installation
Compile data for daily, weekly, or monthly operating reports to Veolia and Saputo Cheese management
May compile data for EPA or state regulatory bodies
Coordinate with Veolia purchasing department to order wastewater treatment supplies
Coordinate with Saputo Cheese to schedule third-party maintenance support
