About The Position

This is a limited-duration, project-funded role for a Wastewater Plant Mechanic I/II, lasting 7-8 years. It is a fully benefited position within the Fabrication, Maintenance & Construction (FMC) team at a state-of-the-art facility. The role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing various types of equipment, performing preventive maintenance, overhauls, and installations. Employees in this role are eligible to apply for regular District vacancies. Requirements

Wastewater Plant Mechanic I: Education/skills to follow written/oral instructions, keep records, perform shop math + 2 years semi-skilled mechanical maintenance/repair experience.
Wastewater Plant Mechanic II: High school (or equivalent) + recognized journey-level Maintenance/Plant Mechanic status.
Valid CA Class C license/insurability.
Teamwork mindset.
Ability to work outdoors/overtime.
Basic CMMS & MS Office skills.
Willing to join on-call rotation once proficient.
Must obtain a Class B California Driver's license within one year.

Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair plant, shop, field, and construction equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, overhauls, and equipment installations.
Contribute to a strong safety culture.
Participate in a responsive on-call rotation (when qualified).
